How do I get a tattoo at South Seas?

There are many ways to get started on your tattoo. Walking in, calling or writing are great ways to start the process. Some people bring in exactly what they want, but most of the time we discuss your idea, look at reference images together and then draw up a custom design for your tattoo. This process can take anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks depending on what you want.

Do I need an appointment?

Appointments are preferred, but not always necessary. We try to accommodate smaller walk-in appointments, but if you have a larger project or want a certain artist, please call or write the shop in advance. The more advance notice, the better.

How much do you charge?

Our shop minimum is $80. We charge an hourly rate which varies by artist for appointments over 3 hours. Medium sized pieces are priced on a per project basis. We do accept credit cards, but prefer cash.

Do I need to leave a deposit?

We require a nonrefundable deposit to hold an appointment and work on a drawing. The deposit amount depends on the size and complexity of the tattoo. The deposit goes towards the cost of the final session of your tattoo. However you forfeit your deposit if you:

• Decide to not get the tattoo

• Reschedule without at least 72 hours notice

• Significantly change the idea/design of your tattoo

I'm here on vacation, is there anything I need to know?

The biggest thing is that you CANNOT swim or sun with a fresh tattoo. Your tattoo will take 1-2 weeks to heal, so most people get their work at the end of there vacation. It is also important to not have a sunburn on the area you would like your tattoo.

How do I care for my tattoo?

After your tattoo, we will go over detailed instructions based on the location and scope of your tattoo. Generally, you will need to keep you tattoo clean and slightly moisturized throughout the healing process, which takes 1-2 weeks. Again, you cannot go swimming with a fresh tattoo!

Do tattoos hurt?

Yes, but placement, size and your personal pain tolerance are all factors in how much it will hurt. Some areas that are notoriously more painful are: the ribcage, foot and chest. More tolerable areas are the outer arm and legs.
